FAQs

Are Happy Little Camper products “free from chemicals” or “chemical free”?

All matter, including us, is made up of chemicals, so it defies science to have a product that is chemical-free. Generally, when products are marketed as “chemical free”, they often mean that they are synthetic-free (or made from only natural ingredients). Happy Little Camper products are made from plant-based natural ingredients.

What makes Happy Little Camper Wipes different?

Happy Little Camper cotton wipes are made from hypoallergenic, 100% natural cotton and natural lotion. Conventional wipes from well-known brands are made from blends of bleached cotton and/or synthetic products. They can contain dioxins from the bleaching process, pesticide and herbicide residues, synthetic chemicals, artificial fragrances, and dyes. Happy Little Camper cotton wipes are 100% cotton, biodegradable, and have no polyethylene glycols (PEG), parabens, polyethylene terephthalate (PET), silicones, ethyl alcohol, perfume, synthetics, and dyes. As a result, Happy Little Camper wipes reduce the risk of irritation and allergic reactions.

What are the ingredients in Happy Little Camper natural cotton wipes and flushable wipes?

Happy Little Camper 100% natural cotton wipes and flushable wipes have NO chlorine, NO ethyl alcohol, NO fragrances, NO silicone, NO parabens, NO polyethylene glycols (PEG), and NO polyethylene terephthalate (PET). The lotion ingredients are Water, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice (Organic), Coco-glucoside, Sodium Citrate, Benzyl Alcohol (Non-ethanol Based, Aromatic Preservative), Benzoic Acid, Dehydroacetic Acid, Betaine and Citric Acid.

What is in Happy Little Camper Diapers?

So glad you asked! HLC diapers are made with a GMO-free cotton-blend top sheet with GMO-free Aloe Vera and Vitamin E plant extracts. Our ultra-absorbent bio-core blend is made from pulp and super absorbent polymer and wrapped in a special non-woven absorbent pocket that traps the liquid inside for added protection. The pulp is untreated with no added chemicals, totally chlorine-free (TCF), and sourced from sustainably managed forests (FSC-certified). Our cotton-blend back sheet is GMO-free, breathable, and printed with certified safe inks without lead or other heavy metals. Designed with non-woven leg cuffs that keep moisture away from baby’s sensitive skin. Our diapers also have stay-put tabs and stretchy sides made from lycra and flat elastics for a secure and comfortable fit. The adhesives used in Happy Little Camper baby diapers are VOC-free, the diapers contain only non-toxic adhesives and elastics. Our diapers are up to 34% biodegradable (depending on the size) and are lotion-free, latex-free and rayon-free.

Wait, aren’t the other leading brands made of cotton with natural lotions?

No! Most leading brand wipes are made from various blends of synthetic materials with chemical-laden lotions. Happy Little Camper always puts all of our ingredients in the package description so you can make an informed choice.

Do Happy Little Camper flushable wipes comply with industry standards?

Yes, Happy Little Camper is the only brand that offers such a healthy, affordable flushable wipe that also complies with INDA and EDANA flushable guidelines, created by the leading associations of nonwoven fabrics and related industries in the US and Europe.

How do I dispose of Happy Little Camper compostable and biodegradable diapers?

It is recommended that when disposing of our Happy Little Camper diapers, that you empty the contents of the diaper into the toilet before it goes in the bin. Dirty diapers hold human waste and for this reason can be a potential health hazard if anyone/anything comes into contact with it. We recommend wrapping it up tightly in a biodegradable bag, or sustainable materials such as newspaper, to avoid exposure. We advise against wrapping it in a plastic bag.

Why don’t Happy Little Camper diapers have a wetness indicator?

Happy Little Camper diapers come without the wetness indicator and that is for a very good reason! The wetness indicator is made from harsh dyes and chemicals which can be harmful to your baby’s bottom – especially for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Happy Little Camper promises to give you a diaper which is natural and hypoallergenic hence why our diapers don’t have the chemically infused wetness indicator. For more information on wetness indicators you can read our blog HERE.

Why do we choose non-GMO cotton in our diapers?

Conventionally grown GMO cotton is one of the most toxic crops in the world, accounting for up to 25% of the world’s use of insecticides for its 2.5% of global cropland!

Baby’s skin is thinner and therefore more permeable than adult’s skin. Babies are also more heavily exposed to toxins in proportion to their body weight, resulting in an increased vulnerability to exposure to toxins.

When you consider how long babies are in diapers for, and the dangerous chemicals that GMO cotton has been sprayed with, your baby’s skin is potentially being exposed to accumulative amounts of toxic ingredients soaking into their tiny bodies.

Where are Happy Little Camper diapers made?

Happy Little Camper diapers are made in Europe.

Our FDA/GMA approved manufacturing facilities are ISO 13485 and ISO 14001 certified and all the processes we implemented are designed to ensure the safety of our products. We regularly monitor and evaluate energy performance levels. We aim to maintain the highest degree of control on emission & discharges of materials to the environment and thus continually improve our performance where economically viable. We are attentive to the needs of local residents and ecology, using all fuels and water as efficiently as possible. We constantly increase staff awareness in energy efficiency.

In addition to this, major retailers that we sell to already, such as Walmart, Kroger, and Rite Aid, have their own standards for ethical sourcing, and investigates our processes and procedures to ensure no breach of community standards occurs at any stage of our manufacturing process.

How many diapers do I need to pack in my hospital bag?

Packing a hospital bag can be an exciting but daunting task for any mum. Newborns can require up to 12 diaper changes a day! We recommend that you pack enough diapers for at least one or two days, plus a few extras to make sure that you don’t run out. Better to have too many than too little!

How often do I need to change diapers?

Some babies require more frequent diaper changes than others, depending on how sensitive their skin is. It is valuable to recognise when your baby’s diaper needs changing to keep him/her clean and avoid diaper rash. Babies with sensitive skin need changing as soon as they wet themselves whilst other babies can wait to be changed after each feed. However, it is important to note that all babies need changing as soon as possible after they have done a poo.

Do diapers expire?

Our Happy Little Camper diapers have an expiration date printed on the packet purely to comply with USA FDA regulations. As our products aren't food or drug products, the expiration date isn't applicable, but simply there for compliance. Please be assured that the product is perfectly safe to use and is not compromised due to the date printed on the packaging.

Why do Happy Little Campers diapers have plastic packaging?

As a manufacturer of premium “better for your body, better for the planet and better for your budget” products, we are dedicated to making high-quality products that are natural, safe & reliable, eco-friendly and affordable. Happy Little Camper diapers are wrapped in sustainable plastic packaging that can be recycled after use. By creating packaging that is recyclable, we are contributing to a circular economy.

In a circular economy process, materials are kept within the economy once the product reaches the end of its life. Once our products have been used, the packaging can be placed into a recycling bin for collection where it will then be used to manufacture new plastic bottles, containers and durable plastics. The use of recyclable packaging, if disposed of correctly, can contribute to a sustainable and circular economy.

There is often a public misconception that using plastic packaging is more harmful to the environment than paper packaging. However, paper bags use significantly more resources to produce, are harder to recycle, contribute to greenhouse gas emissions and have a limited recyclable lifespan. Plastic packaging can be harmful when littered or disposed of incorrectly as it harms wildlife and the environment. If disposed correctly, they are a safe and reusable resource.

Where we are using plastic packaging, we’re investing in more sustainable alternatives such as I’m green PE Bag Wrap (>51% Biobased verified by ASTM D6866)

Packaging for our Happy Little Camper diapers ranges are “I'm green”, bio-based and made from ethanol sugarcane, a renewable resource. I’m green represents a better use of natural resources and helps reduce CO2 emissions. When I’m green bio-based polyethylene reaches the end of its useful life, it can be recycled just like conventional polyethylene.
