Diaper Changing Tips

Changing your baby’s diaper may not be yours or their favorite task of the day, but for new mums knowing when or how to change is a whole new ball game. Newborns can need changing up to 12 times a day, so it is important you know what you’re using and doing to keep that diaper rash away.

Some babies need frequent diaper changes whilst others don’t, it depends on how sensitive their skin is. Babies with sensitive skin need changing as soon as they wet themselves whilst little ones with normal skin can wait to be changed after each feed. It is important to note that all babies need changing as soon as possible after they have done a poo.

Diaper changing essentials.

  • A few clean spares: When changing diapers, it is always useful to have spares in case of emergencies – the more the merrier! We recommend using hypoallergenic diapers that are made without chlorine bleaching to reduce the risk of allergy and diaper rash.
  • A clean packet of baby wipes: Whether you prefer flushable (made from pulp, GMO free) or 100% cotton wipes, they are an absolute diaper changing essential. It is recommended to use hypoallergenic wipes that are fragrance free to keep that bottom smooth and clean! Not only are baby wipes essential for diaper changing but a can be super handy on the go for any unwanted spillages or marks.
  • Change of clothes:In the circumstance that your nappy has leaked, it is ideal to have a spare change of clothes for baby to stay clean and fresh!
  • Ointment:If diaper rash occurs, it is important to stay on top of it before it gets worse. It can be very sore and uncomfortable for your baby, so is important you treat it accordingly. Click here for all you need to know about diaper rash!
