When it comes to our babies, we want nothing but the best, right? We want the safest car seats, the smartest doctors, the highest-rated schools. Yet when it comes to baby products such as lotions, shampoos, and wipes, we tend to buy what’s most popular or the ones we’ve heard the most about. Yet these products are the ones that are coming in direct contact with your sweet little one’s skin, so shouldn’t you want the best of them, as well? You should, and I’m a firm believer that natural baby products are the best.

We live in a world where information is constantly shared about everything. With a simple search, we can find out all the ingredients in our favorite snack foods or that coffee we drink every morning, which can help us to make better choices. With another simple search, we can also find out all the ingredients used to make baby wipes, shampoos, and lotions, which can help us to make the best choices for our little ones. Since you probably use them on your child multiple times a day, let’s take a look at wipes.

What’s Really In Baby Wipes?

Leading brands of wipes use synthetic materials to make their wipes, and many contain plastic fibers to bind the wipe together. In addition, the majority of these wipes contain additives and chemicals. Most of these are considered harmless, but since a baby’s skin is so sensitive, they can cause irritation and, in some cases, allergic reactions. These chemicals and additives include:

  • perfume
  • ethyl alcohol
  • sulfite
  • silicone
  • polyethylene terephthalate
  • chlorine
  • parabens
  • polyethylene glycols

When we look at a list like this, it’s a little overwhelming to think that all of these are in a simple little baby wipe. Companies can easily attempt to rationalize their use of these chemicals by telling us that parabens prevent bacteria growth and perfume must be used to cover up the smell of a dirty diaper. And all of that may be true and logical, but think about your baby. He was protected from all of these chemicals in your womb for 9 months, and then as soon as he comes out, we start using wipes with these additives. That’s too much for a new baby’s skin to handle, and it can be harmful. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to do ANYTHING to harm my sweet baby’s beautiful skin.

What Are My Other Options?

There are several different natural options available for parents to use. One option is to use cloth wipes and a spray bottle with wipe solution. However, this option may not be convenient for working parents, for daycare, or for homes with multiple children. Luckily, there’s a natural option out there that’s also convenient.

Happy Little Camper wipes are 100% natural cotton wipes that contain no harmful chemicals or additives, are thick and strong, and are available at an affordable price (because y’all know me; I’m not going to break the bank on baby products!). The ingredients in Happy Little Camper wipes include:

  • water
  • aloe barbadensis leaf juice
  • coc-glucoside
  • codium citrate
  • benzyl alcohol
  • benzoic acid
  • dehydroacetic acid
  • betaine
  • citric acid

Now that sounds like a MUCH better list of ingredients! Happy Little Camper wipes are also biodegradable, which means that not only are they good for you and your baby, but they’re good for the environment, as well. One of my other favorite things about these wipes is that they’re so big! Let’s be real; some diaper changes require A LOT of wiping! I’ve gone through 5 or 6 wipes before, but with Happy Little Camper, the most I’ve ever used is 2, and that just seals the deal for me! I want nothing but the best for my sweet Selah girl, and these wipes have proven to me that they are top-notch.
Now it’s your turn. What natural baby products do you use? Why are natural baby products important to you?
